GrendelSweets is a small artisan chocolate company in the Pacific Northwest that creates wonderfully tasty confections made in very small batches using traditional methods.
To create the best product we can, we use only the highest quality organic and natural ingredients. Our single-origin and blended couvertures are processed in Switzerland, where simplicity and purity in chocolate production are the rule.
For our other ingredients, we like to stay closer to home. We purchase our organic cream and butter from Washington and Oregon dairies, we buy our fruits from Washington farmers, and we use as many other local and organic ingredients as we can.
We're often asked why we make our chocolates the way we do — using organic and fair-trade ingredients, doing everything by hand, trying to shop locally. It's been pointed out that we could certainly save money using more conventional ingredients and automating some of our processes. But the answer, at least in part, is that GrendelSweets is a labor of love. And who wants to scrimp on love?
We choose particular ingredients because 1) they taste better and 2) they do more good — to the planet, to the producer, and to the consumer. And doing good makes us feel good, which makes this labor of love even more enjoyable. And as we say elsewhere, we believe the happiness that we bring to our work gets into the final product. And then a little bit of that happiness gets passed on to you.
